Hi, I’m Ai Kubo.
I’m a research scientist, yoga instructor, and wellness coach.

The focus of The Mindful Cleanse is to reset the system; to understand our habitual patterns and realize how our bodies react to different elements in our lives. This holistic approach explores nutrition alongside stress, sleep, environment and self-care. A shift in one can create a positive domino effect.

While it may look like a traditional food-based cleanse from the outside, the Mindful Cleanse is actually much more. Combining my scientific background with my holistic health training, this method creates healthy patterns that support long-lasting changes and a more vibrant life.
 

 
 

The Details

We’ll meet three times during this 21 day program. In-Person participants will meet at my home each Saturday, while Web-Only participants will view the presentations through the live web-stream or at their leisure.

During the first week, we will gradually wean off the ‘drugs’ that are taxing our internal organs. I will guide you in how to mindfully reduce these substances, so there are only minimal detoxing side-effects. The second week is the main cleanse: we’ll will nourish our bodies with fresh fruits and vegetables, non-gluten grains, some legumes or animal protein, and healthy fats. During the final week, we’ll will re-introduce foods that we eliminated to see how our bodies react to them. This is the invaluable process of finding out exactly what food combinations work best for us.

All participants will engage with each other through the Members Portal, where I share tips, new recipes, and relevant articles. Everyone will be sharing experiences as they progress through the cleanse, this platform is an integral part of the success for cleansers. Through the Members Portal, participants get access to the Mindful Cleanse Manual, as well as a host of recipes and resources during the program and for the 3 months following.

Keep in touch with your fellow participants, keep sharing tips for maintaining your vibrant lifestyle! The effects of the cleanse are long-lasting. The Members Portal will be open to you for 3 months after the cleanse begins. Your body will remember how great it feels to live vibrantly, and you'll know when it's time for another reset!

Frequently Asked Questions

IS THIS CLEANSE VEGETARIAN FRIENDLY?

Yes, this cleanse is absolutely vegetarian or vegan friendly. I do not make you eat any animal products as a part of the program. However, if you love animal protein, you can consume certain kinds during the cleanse.

WILL THERE BE HERBS OR SUPPLEMENT WE HAVE TO TAKE?

No. This cleanse is based on whole foods, there are no supplements you’ll need to take. Our program is based on the fact that our body has a natural healing capacity, and by removing toxins we can reset our systems to function optimally.

WILL I BE HUNGRY DURING THE CLEANSE?

Cleanse participants are always surprised by how little hunger they experienced during the cleanse. You’re encouraged you eat whenever you are hungry, and there are no calorie restrictions. You will be eating a wide variety of delicious whole foods such as fruits, vegetables, non-gluten grains, some legumes, some animal proteins, and lots of good fats. Depending on your current dietary habits however, you may notice cravings for certain foods/substances you tend to reach to satisfy emotional hunger (e.g., stress). This is a great opportunity to learn the differences between true hunger and emotional hunger so you can make good decisions when choosing foods.

WILL I LOSE WEIGHT FROM THIS PROGRAM?

Although this is more of a lifestyle shifting program than a weight-loss program, almost all participants end up losing weight– and keeping it off. You’ll find a dietary pattern that improves the natural function of your internal organs. There will be less fluid retention, bloatedness, or constipation, leading to lightness. In addition, you will become much more mindful about what you put in your body. Many previous participants were surprised by how easy it was for them to shed the pounds that they couldn’t get rid of for many years.

CAN I DO THE CLEANSE IF I AM PREGNANT OR BREASTFEEDING?

Yes. The Mindful Cleanse is not a calorie-restricting extreme diet, so there should not be risks during pregnancy or breastfeeding. However, please make sure to let me know that you are either pregnant or breastfeeding so that I can provide appropriate guidance according to your condition. You will need to maintain enough protein and fat to keep the baby growing inside or outside! Your baby will be happy to have a mom with a healthier body and mind.

WHAT IF I HAVE TO MISS ONE OR TWO OF THE SESSIONS?

Given the busy lives we all have, I don’t expect that everyone is available for all three sessions. If you are enrolled in the Web-Only course, you can watch the video any time after the recording has been posted. If you are signing up for the In-Person workshop, I encourage you to attend at least two of the sessions in person so you can get the most out of the group work. In-Person attendees can also watch the webinar recording, so there is little you will miss when you can’t make it to a live session.

SHOULD I DO THE CLEANSE WITH MY SPOUSE OR ALONE?

If you live with someone, I highly encourage you to participate together. Cleanse participants report greater ease and success when their significant other also followed the cleanse during the three-week period. Some couples also experience stronger and more compassionate relationships after they walked the journey together. Even two people can create a sense of community. By encouraging each other, helping to plan meals, and cooking together, you can make the journey much more fun and feasible than if you’re fighting against the temptations of someone eating or drinking things you’re avoiding.

CAN I ADD THE CLEANSE-FRIENDLY MEALS IF I'M DOING THE WEB-ONLY PROGRAM?

Yes! The Cleanse-Friendly Meals add-on is available to all participants, In-Person or Web-Only, who are located in the Bay Area. Delivery is possible for areas within 30 miles from Berkeley ($20 delivery charge).

DO I NEED TO KNOW HOW TO COOK HEALTHY MEALS?

Don't worry, you'll find how-to videos and a vast library of easy-to-make recipes to guide you through the process of establishing your new cooking and eating habits. I will also teach busy people how to prepare meals in advance so you can have a stress-free weekday meals, including lunch. If you don’t have time to cook, the add-on Cleanse-Friendly Meals will save your life. I will also present a variety of options for restaurants and travel.

WILL THIS REALLY MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN MY LIFE?

Absolutely. This is a comprehensive life transformation, even though it sounds like we’re only doing dietary cleanse. We will talk about diet, but we'll also dive into other important aspects of life such as stress, sleep, environment, and self-care. It is amazing how often we fail to realize that everything is interrelated. A shift in one aspect can create a rippling effect to the rest of our lives. You'll become much more mindful about everything you do, thereby becoming a more kind, compassionate person to yourself and others.
